So I might be a tad late on making my "New Year's Resolutions" but considering that we're only 23 days into the first month of the year, I figure that's still acceptable! It hasn't actually taken me this long to come up with my ... goals ... but it's taken me this long to get online to blog about it!
I know I don't have many people following me on my blog, but the few of you that do know that I have always been a yo-yo when it comes to my weight. Some years it's really great.. and some years I tend to pack on the few pounds.. and there was even a year when I got way too low... I decided that 2012 was going to be the year that I took control of my "weight issues" or more so my "negative" body image...
So my first "goal" of 2012 ... Get down to a healthier weight... I hate to do what everyone's new year's resolution is but hey... this year.. it's my turn to actually do it.. not just say I'm going too. In order to accomplish my first goal, I had to join a gym (which I really really really hate doing). I want weight loss to be easy... I want to be able to go out and run 10 miles no problem and I want to be able to eat whatever I want whenever I want... but apparently we can see that is not the case. I decided to join Vision Quest Sports and Fitness, which is just a private owned gym and the best part is.. CHEAP! I'm on a budget here so I need all the help I can get... but I went in to sign up and what did I see when I walked in?!
YES!! I WANT TO BE THE BIGGEST LOSER!! So it's not really going on the show but the gym is doing their own version of the biggest loser. I definitely signed up and I'm going to use this blog as a way to keep me accountable. It's a 12 week program and I'm hoping to see some results.. major results. I'm not going to put any before pics up or any exact statistics until the end of the 12 weeks. It's a little embarrassing, but maybe once I get to where I want to be it'll be easier to show the bad. But here's the breakdown... they are projecting that if I do exactly what I'm supposed to do in the gym.. and eat the right way.. I'll lose about 12-14% body fat and lose around 20ish pounds. I don't know if I should be getting my hopes up or just take it day by day. There are weigh ins and seminars every two weeks and a money prize at the end! The last day of the competition is April 17th... so wish me good luck!
My other goals of 2012 are a little less exciting...
1. Make myself a priority. I spend so much time trying to please everyone else that this year, it's time for me. I'm in my last year of school (for now) and have had a really really long road to get here. I'm going to make sure I enjoy every second that I have before I have to grow up. I always tend to put other people before myself but now I feel like I need to come first.
2. Travel. I am graduating from college this year so I plan on taking a trip. I can't decide exactly what I want to do. I really want to see New York and I really want to go to Hawai'i ... MAYBE I'LL JUST DO BOTH!
So there you have it... my 2012 goals. Here's to hoping all goes to plan and at the end of this year I can look back and say I accomplished all my goals!
